(St. Paul, Minn.) — Pediatric Home Service (PHS) has been selected the 2009 Organization of the Year by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (MN NAPNAP) in recognition of its outstanding and innovative in-home service to children with special needs.

In announcing the award, Chapter President-Elect Stephanie Kimmes, RN, CPNP, AE-C, noted that “From in-home asthma education led by Kay Kufahl’s excellent leadership to the Take 2 program, PHS shares MN NAPNAP’s core values of education, advocacy, caring and leadership in providing high quality health care for children in the community.”

Kufahl, RRT-NPS, RCP, AE-C, is PHS Managing Director of In-Home Asthma Management. Other PHS employees instrumental in earning the award for PHS are Barb Lehn, RRT-NPS, RCP, AE-C, Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist and Certified Asthma Educator, Janelle Peterson, RD, LD, CNSD, Nutrition Specialist, and Cathleen Urbain, Ph.D., Patient Advocacy.

“PHS should be proud of all the folks who work there,” said Kimmes. “They are true professionals and such advocates for kids. We’re pleased to recognize PHS for high quality home health care and education.”

Upon learning of the award, PHS President, Susan Wingert said, “Every employee at PHS strives for excellence in home health care, which is epitomized by our staff whose efforts were instrumental in earning this nomination. We’re very proud to be recognized in this way by such an influential group of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.”
PHS will be honored at a MN NAPNAP spring celebration event Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Campus Club in Coffman Memorial Union on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.
