Pediatric Cancer Resources for Your Family
We have the honor of working alongside a number of amazing organizations dedicated to making the lives of families we serve easier and filled with support. In the world of pediatric cancer (and so many other diagnoses), one child’s fight affects the entire family – and there are resources in the Twin Cities and beyond ready to help parents, siblings, and patients along the journey. Momcology
The organization we most recently learned about is Momcology, which was formed to bridge the isolation gap parents feel when their child is diagnosed with cancer. They are a community and facilitate relationships, growth, strength and understanding. The MN chapter of Momcology will be speaking at the APHON conference tomorrow, and PHS is thrilled to be attending with our new patient advocate. Are you the parent of a kiddo diagnosed with cancer? Miracles of Mitch
Another organization helping families through the journey? Miracles of Mitch. They help organize dinners for families through Mitch Breaks on the Oncology floor at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, held an incredible New Years Eve celebration for the families (we could be found reading BINGO numbers) and put two MiracleKids triathlons together each summer. Hosted at Lake Nokomis and Lake Chanhassen, these races are for kids to “race for those who can’t” and are quickly growing in popularity. We’re counting the days to warmer weather and race time!
Hope Kids
HopeKids believes that despite a serious medical diagnosis, kids should still have the opportunity to be kids and families should still have fun together. This organization provides events for these families, throughout the year like Wild Games, festivals, movies and more – all in a safe environment for kids who might be at risk with a lowered immune system. We love to be involved in their cause and events, from the Coleberry Golf Tournament to their 5k.
