Learn how to properly document a home care visit, such as the basic information required for a patient's medical record, tips for improving documentation, understanding current Standards of Practice and the state Nurse Practice Act. We will discuss legal issues in infusion therapy and home care nursing and ways to prevent malpractice.

Objectives: Following the presentation, the participant will be able to;
1. Explain the importance of safe and complete documentation.
2. Identify basic information that is required when documenting in the medical record and tips for improving documentation.
3. Identify documentation errors to avoid.
4. Define negligence.
5. Identify the importance of understanding the current standards of practice and your state's Nurse Practice Act.
6. Identify skills that will reduce your liability risk.
