We will review age-specific stages of pediatric growth and development and perform a well-child physical assessment. You will learn how to identify normal ranges for blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, respirations, and other common laboratory values. Other topics include reviewing the signs/symptoms of pertinent pediatric disease processes as well as identifying signs/symptoms of child abuse and appropriate interventions to take.
- Contact hours will be awarded to all participants
- Special large group class arrangements on request
Objectives; Following the presentatation the participant will be able to;
1. Discuss the principles of Infection Prevention, including hand washing and appropriate use of PPE.
2. Identify age specific stages of growth and development
3. Verbalize understanding of how to manage High Alert Medications in the home.
4. Perform a complete physical assessment on a well child.
5. Identify normal ranges for blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, respirations, and common laboratory values in children.
6. Identify physical signs and symptoms related to a disease process of the: Cardiac,Respiratory, Neurological, GI and Musculoskeletal systems.
7. Identify age-specific methods and tools for the assessment of pain.
8. Identify signs and symptoms of child abuse/neglect and appropriate interventions.
