Learn or review how to start a peripheral IV. Topics covered are: venous system anatomy, identifying and finding a vein, selecting a proper access device, and venipuncture techniques. There will be time for hands-on practice.

Objectives: Following the presentation, the participant will be able to;
1. Identify the anatomy of the venous system.
2. Identify the proper veins to select for a peripheral IV.
3. Select an appropriate access device.
4. Demonstrate venipuncture techniques and removal of a peripheral catheter.
5. Demonstrate dressing and securing a periferal catheter.
6. Identify complications related to a peripheral IV and methods to prevent or reduce the risk of these complications.
