TPN and Ambulatory Infusion (1hr)

Learn the indications for use, side effects, special precautions, contraindications and complications of Total Parenteral Nutrition therapy. Class time will include setting up and infusing TPN using and ambulatory infusion pump. You will have hands-on time to become comfortable with the features of the pump, which includes programming, troubleshooting, and cleaning the pump.

At the completion of this class the particpant will be able to;
1. Identify and indications of the use of TPN.
2. Identify the goals of TPN therapy.
3. Identify the basic components of TPN.
4. discuss laboratory values associated with monitoring TPN.
5. Identify complications of TPN therapy.
6. Demonstrate setting up and administering TPN using an ambulatory infusion pump.
