Education Leads to Excellence for PHS Staff

If you read our newsletter or this blog regularly, you already know the importance education plays in providing our medically-complex kiddos with the best care we can. But this education isn’t just clinically-focused – for two PHS staff, additional education has recently come in the form of business learning.

IMG_4859Tamara Schafer, Health Care Relations Liaison at PHS, graduated in December 2013 with her Master’s in Business Administration and a Health Care Management emphasis from Concordia University in St. Paul.

In her role, Tamara communicates with our referral sources to ensure they have the resources and information necessary regarding the patients they follow that PHS provides care for. Tamara will be able to bring her increased business and leadership skills to better serve the health care professionals she interacts with, helping make the coordination of care a smooth and seamless process for the family.

PamPam Chilson, our Chief Financial Officer, directs the company’s financial planning and accounting practices, and also oversees the finance department.

In January 2014, Pam graduated from the Carlson School of Management Minnesota Executive Program – a program designed to enhance her business knowledge and skills through learning related to marketing, strategic innovation, finance, operations and ethics among other topics.

“At PHS, continued education and opportunities for employees to expand their knowledge base are always encouraged,” said PHS President Mark Hamman. “These programs provides an immense amount of skill development, and we look forward to Pam and Tamara being able to apply the valuable insights they took away.”

Please join us in congratulating Tamara and Pam on their great accomplishments! Are you currently working to further your education? What are you working towards? Share in the comments, we’d love to hear about it.
