Know the Nurses: Jessica Riemenschneider
If you have a home care nurse in your home, you already know what an important part of your life they become. Today in Know the Nurses, we’re introducing you to home care nurse Jessica Riemenschneider, RN, BSN, PHN, who has been with PHS since April 2014. We already know these nurses provide comprehensive, round-the-clock care for patients in their homes every day, but here are a few fun facts about Jessica you might not know.
My nickname is Sprinkles – I can’t eat dessert without them on it!- I played tennis and basketball competitively for over 8 years. Was on varsity for both sports all throughout high school. I still play tennis today, but just for fun.
- I am a die-hard University of Michigan fan (born and raised in Ann Arbor). Go blue! My parents only had one rule growing up: Do not go to Ohio State University.
- My family moved to Aurora, IL when I was in first grade. I love going home to visit them as much as possible.
- I originally planned on majoring in neuroscience in college. However, then I realized that patient care was very important to me, so I switched my major.
- My boyfriend is an ex-Marine and is currently going to school in Utah to become helicopter pilot. I get to visit 2-3 times a year. Utah is a gorgeous place!
- My family rents a house on Lake Michigan each year. My parents purposely choose a place with no wifi or cell reception so that we can all fully relax!
- One of my all-time favorite things to do is dinner and a movie!
- I love reality television (The Bachelor, Real Housewives of Orange County and Beverly Hills, etc) and Hallmark Channel. Embarrassing, I know.
- I love to cook.
- Coffee is my life! I used to always dream of opening my coffee shop and bakery like in It’s Complicated.
I had always thought I’d work with older adults, but then I got this job and fell in love with pediatric nursing.- I love to joke and be sarcastic.
- I am a work alcoholic. I find down-time to be more stressful then being busy!
- I have been told I have very good hand writing, even though I’m left handed.
- To this day, I still can’t draw a straight line with a ruler. It’s always slanted. People say it’s because I’m left handed.
- I am a crazy driver…very calm in person, but as soon as I get in my car, a whole new side of me comes out. I blame it on learning how to drive in Chicago 😉
I LOVE to dance! Whenever I hear a song I love, I can’t help but to start dancing, even if it’s in public.- I am a first-time auntie! Brynlee is now 1 years old, and my sister has another one on the way.
- I am an adrenaline junkie! I’ve gone parasailing and zip lining. Next up, sky diving and hang gliding!
