Mark Hamman, New President of PHS

Mark Hamman, PHS’s new President

After more than 20 years steering the PHS ship, Founder and Owner Susan Wingert is handing the wheel to her son, Mark Hamman, as she moves to CEO and Mark to President. While titles are changing, the transition has been years in the works and carefully planned to ensure continuity and the same great care, services and support patients and health care partners have come to expect from PHS.

Susan will focus on advocacy, legislative and policy issues relative to pediatric home health care and plans to officially retire from PHS in May 2012.

The announcement comes following the completion of an innovative succession plan that has allowed Hamman to gain a thorough understanding of PHS and the home health care industry by stepping into the shoes of key employees and assuming their duties. Since 2009, Hamman has rotated in and out of every PHS division, filling in for each senior level department director for a three-month period.

“I had the benefit of learning the business from the ground up,” said Wingert, a respiratory therapist who founded the company 21 years ago. “The Senior Leadership team of Directors and I wanted my successor to have a similar opportunity to learn about every aspect of the operation.”

Hamman joined PHS in 2004 as a sales and contract manager after 11 years as a territory sales manager with a Twin Cities organization. As president he has taken over the day-to-day operations of Pediatric Home Service. “PHS is an incredible organization made up of outstanding people,” said Hamman. “Their commitment and compassion for PHS and the kids in our care over the last two decades is truly inspiring. I am excited to have the opportunity to help them deliver that same high quality care and customer service for the next 20 years.”
