Parents Helping Parents: What I Wish I Knew About Raising a Child with Complex Medical Needs

For the parent of a recently diagnosed child with complex medical needs, getting ready to go home can be overwhelming. With the return home will come equipment, supplies, nurses, schedules – a new normal. But there is also a great community of parents who have gone through the same process, and thanks to the internet, their advice and support is very close at hand.

Many of our parents can look back at those first few days, weeks and months of coming home with their child and reflect on what they’ve learned since – some tips that will hopefully bring some calm and empowerment to parents just starting their new normal. In this installment of Parents Helping Parents, we asked, “What do you wish you would have known coming home from the hospital with a medically-complex child that you know now?”
