Specialized Care in a Welcoming Environment

Morgan’s Wonder Care is a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center — a medically complex daycare designed for children and young adults who require skilled nursing support during the day.

Located on Morgan’s Inclusion Campus in San Antonio, this new center brings together Morgan’s inclusive community and Pediatric Home Service’s decades of pediatric clinical expertise to create a safe, welcoming place where children can receive the medical care they need while remaining connected to their families and community.

Children attend during daytime hours and return home each evening, similar to a traditional daycare setting — but with the added support of skilled nursing care.

What is a PPEC?

A Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center is a licensed medical day health program for children with complex medical conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about PPEC services

How does a PPEC help my child transition home from the hospital?

A PPEC provides a safe, medically supervised environment that allows children to discharge from the hospital while continuing to receive skilled nursing care during the day. This helps support a smoother transition home and reduces extended hospital stays.

How many hours will my child attend?

The number of hours is determined by your child’s physician. Morgan’s Wonder Care will operate during daytime hours, allowing children to return home to their families each evening.

How long will my child use PPEC services?

The length of participation varies for each child. Some children use PPEC services temporarily while transitioning off intensive medical support. Others with ongoing complex needs may participate longer. Children are reassessed regularly.

Do we have to choose between PPEC and home nursing?

No. PPEC is an additional option. Families and physicians may choose PPEC services, home nursing, or a combination of both based on the child’s needs.

When will Morgan's Wonder Care open?

The center is currently under development and is expected to open mid-2026. Families are encouraged to complete the interest form below to receive updates.
