A Message from Sean:

We are in an exciting time as Craig HomeCare becomes part of the PHS team. When we were first approached by PHS and saw the opportunity to combine our top-notch reputations in pediatric home care and bring our patients the comprehensive services offered by PHS, we knew we had to dig in. 

Thank you for all the amazing work you do for our Craig families, and for your continued effort as we work together to care for the nation’s most precious patients. 

You are what makes this organization successful. That does not change with this partnership.  You are the lifeblood of the organization, you are the reason patients are safe, happy, and healthy. 

Looking to bring a partner in to support the expansion of our services to more fully serve our patients was not a decision made lightly. I knew our success would begin in choosing the right company to join. In PHS, I see a similar heart and dedication to the patient families and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right, not what is easiest.

I am eager to see all we will accomplish together. Everyone will be working hard to ensure clear communication as we integrate our two organizations into one. Please use this page as a resource for you to get answers to common questions and submit questions that you do not see listed here.

Welcome to the PHS team! We are so glad to be working with you and are looking forward to getting to know you. 

Our priority throughout this integration will be to limit disruptions to you and to our patients. We will work efficiently to bring our teams together and bring the best care to every child who needs us, all while having fun and working hard. While we aim to set up an infrastructure that allows for consistent processes, workflows, and future growth, we will keep the structure of your organization in place as it exists today, to start. Back to our goal of as little disruption as possible, changes will be paced to allow your team to continue the phenomenal work you do today of taking care of our patients, additions to the team will be aligned with future growth plans in the coming months!   

We were attracted to your organization for the similarities in values and patient-first mentality. We look forward to great conversations as we discover more about each of you and your organization’s processes.

Getting to Know PHS

External Communication

We’re sharing this exciting news with staff immediately, and will be quickly moving on to external communications with referral sources/community partners and patient families both starting this afternoon 7/11/2022.  We will keep staff informed as we continue to advance the communication efforts.

The press release will be sent to media contacts after we have fully communicated with referrals and patient families.

Craig HomeCare will be transitioning immediately to a cobrand for the next several months then to Pediatric Home Service. 

Craig HomeCare website will have a popup added to it in mid-October that will redirect visitors to the PHS website. The Craig HomeCare social pages will have a post announcing the transition to PHS and the logo will be changed. Eventually, the headquarters page will be merged with the PHS Facebook page. The branch-specific Facebook pages will remain separate and intact for the time being.

Employee

Will my job change? -

For the most part, no. While this is a big transition, but everyone at PHS is excited and honored to be walking this path with the team at Craig HomeCare. Having gone through an acquisition ourselves, we are sensitive to how change feels.

While there will undoubtedly be change along the way, in the early days of our partnership you can anticipate business as usual in your day-to-day work.

Except for your 401(k), all of the existing Craig HomeCare benefits plans will remain the same. Current enrollment selections and eligibility requirements are the same. PTO and SNP accrual and usage policies remain the same. Additionally, we are not changing any systems, as such, you will continue using KanTime as your EHR, Lippincott for training, and Paycom for hours.

We love the work you do and look forward to collaborating on our future together.

Will my scheduling process change? -

No, your schedulers and the process for scheduling hours will remind the same as it is today.

I have a giftcode for our company store. Can I use that in the PHS store?  

Yes! codes will carry over to the new company store (visit the PHS store by clicking the question text). Codes will not be available on day one but an email will be sent as soon as the codes are functional and ready for your use.

Will anything change with how I chart/document? -

You’ll continue to use your existing Kantime credentials and login for clinical documentation, plan of care access, and messaging with the office.

Will the payroll process change? -

All payroll processes including submission of time, pay periods, and pay dates remain the same as they do today. The Paycom Employee Self Service portal is still the place to make updates to your profile and view your pay and benefits information.

Will I get the same pay and benefits? -

Except for your 401(k), all of the existing Craig HomeCare benefits plans will remain the same. Current enrollment selections and eligibility requirements are the same. PTO and SNP accrual and usage policies remain the same. Your pay and benefits will continue to come from Craig HomeCare as they do today.

Your 401K will transition to Empower and employees will have the option of how they want to invest the funds currently in their 401Ks. More details about this process will come quickly. See the section on 401K below for more details.

Our goal is to offer pay that is competitive in the marketplace and that matches the passion of the employee for their role. We will work to ensure parity for employees and will be sure to communicate before, during, and after any changes.

Organizational

Will this change the organization's mission? -

We will start all communications using a cobrand message and maintaining the Craig HomeCare website, and social channels. We will weave PHS messaging in along with the cobrand logo. We are excited to dig into what the means for your team and how we can integrate that into the existing PHS mission and guiding principles.

Once we are through with the cobrand, we will transition completely to the PHS mission and guiding principles as a unified organization.

Will this improve our service to patient families? -

Yes! You will still be offering the same great service that you have always focused on providing. We are hoping our partnership will only complement the great work you already do. In the near future, as we learn together and when it’s the right time, we also hope to add new lines of services, bring enhanced technologies and provide our patients with custom education materials.

Following integration, our goal is to continue to expand services so instead of going to multiple providers, families will be able to get all their services from one location.

How will leadership and the organization structure change? -

Sean Balke will become the President of Home Care Nursing and will report directly to PHS CEO, Adam. All other roles and titles will remain as is for the time being. You will continue to work with the same Scheduler, RN Supervisor, and Branch Administrator as you do now.

Will our company name change? -

Craig HomeCare has built a strong brand in the community over the years and we don’t want to confuse our patient families or referral sources. As such we will launch our partnership using a cobrand identity for the next several months, then transition to the PHS name from there.

Who is PHS (company and people)?

What is the goal of bringing Craig HomeCare into Pediatric Home Service? -

Like PHS, Craig keeps patient-centered care and clinical excellence at the forefront of what you do. As we look at opportunities for expansion, we only seek companies who align with the ethics and values already alive at PHS – and we found exactly that in you.

The people of PHS have been serving children with medical complexities since 1990. 401K Transition

Why are we transitioning the 401K plan when no other benefits will be changing, yet? -

Transitioning to the PHS 401K allows us to eliminate any waiting period for new staff, and take our first step toward integrating our organizations.

What options do I have for my existing 401K funds? -

Fidelity will mail out a packet to all participants with a balance. You have several options for how you will use your existing 401K funds.

1. Transfer the balance to your new Empower account. The funds will be invested based on your elections. Empower will help you with this transition.
2. Deposit the funds into a separate ROTH account you already have in place or plan to start.
3. Take a disbursement- please note, if you select this option, you have will penalties against these dollars.
4. Leave your funds in the current account. A fee will be assessed to maintain funds in this account.

When can I sign up for my Empower account?  

Starting Monday, 7/25 you will be able to access the Empower website to create your account and select your contribution percent. Click the question text to view the resource guide.
