PHS named 2011 Top Workplace

St. Paul, Minn. Pediatric Home Service has been named one of the Top 100 Workplaces in Minnesota based on an employee-based survey from the Star Tribune. The Star Tribune Top Workplaces special section was published on Sunday, June 19.

Produced by the same team that compiles the 20-year-old Star Tribune 100 report of the best-performing public companies in Minnesota, Top Workplaces recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions about company leadership, communication, career opportunities, workplace environment, managerial skills, pay and benefits. The analysis included responses from more than 60,500 employees at Minnesota public, private and nonprofit organizations.

The rankings in the Star Tribune Top 100 Workplaces are based on survey information collected by WorkplaceDynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, which placed Pediatric Home Service third among midsize companies. Pediatric Home Service also received the Management Awareness Award for a knowledgeable management staff that keeps its employees well informed, according to the survey.

Pediatric Home Service Pharmacist, James Roemer, who nominated PHS for the award, said, “I chose to nominate PHS for the top workplace award because working at PHS is more than a job; it is a way of life. As I look at our company, including every employee from nursing, warehouse, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, nutrition, IT, finance, human resources, customer service, and management, we all see our customers as family and do everything possible to take care of the child. I hope by receiving recognition as a top workplace, PHS will be a model for other companies to aspire to in healthcare, customer support, and business.”

Star Tribune Publisher Michael J. Klingensmith said, “The companies in the Star Tribune Top 100 Workplaces deserve high praise for creating the very best work environments in the state of Minnesota. My congratulations to each of these exceptional companies.”

To qualify for the Star Tribune Top Workplaces, a company must have more than 50 employees in Minnesota. More than 1,200 companies were invited to participate. Rankings were composite scores calculated purely on the basis of employee responses.
