Pending Device Update for Philips Trilogy Evo

We have learned about a pending device update for the Evo ventilator in patient homes. It affects patients who are using the ventilator continuously. The fix needs to be made to the software that controls the pressure on the ventilator. The company that makes the ventilator, Philips Respironics, is working on this fix. PHS will come to the patient’s home to make this fix once it is available.

Until then, if a patient is using the ventilator continuously, it should be monitored to ensure PIP and PEEP are not more than +/-2 cmH20, and these additional steps need to be taken every two weeks:

  • Ensure the patient is safely off the vent
  • Put the Evo on standby
  • Quickly touch Start Ventilation to continue therapy
