Top Spots in Minnesota: Camp Odayin Brings Heart and Soul to Campers

This year, we set out to find the best businesses, organizations, and support groups for families with special needs across the state of Minnesota. By surveying the community, we got insights into the spots that make life a bit easier for these parents, children, and caregivers alike and named them PHS Top Spots. We’ve compiled a list of the winners at PHSTopSpots.com to serve as a resource for families, and are excited to periodically highlight the winners in various categories and share our adventures with you throughout the year.

One morning in August, PHS was lucky enough to be at Dodge Nature Center in West St. Paul, Minnesota, surrounded by excited campers, passionate counselors, and farm animals roaming the property. It was another start to Camp Odayin day camp – just one of many programs available through this Minnesota organization.

Camp Odayin offers year-round programming including residential camp, day camp, family camp, winter camp, and young adult retreats for individuals with heart disease. These opportunities give kids and young adults alike an opportunity to meet peers who have gone through similar experiences in their lives, have the camp experience in a safe environment with medical staff and supplies available, and create a community for a registration fee of only $25 per program.

Learn more about Camp Odayin through the eyes of parents, campers, and staff in this video, and get a glimpse into a morning at day camp!
