Meet Cameo Zehnder, Chief Executive Officer of PHS

We are thrilled to announce the recent appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at PHS – Cameo Zehnder, JD.

Cameo has been with PHS for 25 years, starting as a temporary filing clerk before moving into a number of roles that led her to where she is today. As the third leader of the company in 30 years, Cameo looks forward to carrying on the family legacy that was started by Susan Wingert and succeeded by her son, Mark Hamman.

I have been blessed to call PHS not only my employer, but my extended family since starting here in 1994,” said Zehnder.  “I moved through many roles to be where I am today because of Mark and Susan’s confidence, encouragement, and dedication to their employees.”

Today we wanted to help you get to know Cameo a little better – from her education and her various roles at PHS, to what you can find her doing with family and friends when she’s not at PHS.

Education & Career

She served as Customer Service Manager and Managing Director of Regulatory Affairs before receiving her Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law in 2012 and becoming General Counsel at PHS. In this role, Cameo led the government relations team in legislative initiatives that advocate for the wellbeing of children with medical complexities across Minnesota and Wisconsin.

In 2016, Cameo also became Chief Operating Officer where she oversaw the customer service, billing, IT, and compliance & quality departments at PHS.

Family Life

Cameo lives on a farm outside Cambridge where she and her husband Chad raise Charolais and Red Angus cattle, which they show locally and nationally. They have two daughters, Sydney (age 20) and Natalia (age 9), a dog named Leo (a retired cattle dog) and a cat named Bear. She enjoys spending her summer gardening and winter cooking, and loves to spend time with friends at the lake.

Looking Forward

As Cameo steps into her new role, she knows one thing will remain just as it always has – the PHS commitment to taking care of the child, first and foremost.

“I am incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by strength at every level of the organization,” says Cameo. “Colleagues who work tirelessly every day to ensure our patients are receiving the very best care and service.”
