CHALLENGE
Emily was born with an omphalocele and a small thorax. Combined with the curvature of her spine, she didn’t have enough room to breathe or eat.
Solution
PHS respiratory therapists provided ventilator and oxygen support, while PHS dietitians managed g-tube feedings and oral supplements.
Results
Today, Emily has been weaned off her vent, had her trach removed and can do almost everything other kids do – including eating pizza.
